1. About the Campaign
March Forward 2025 is an international advocacy initiative led by UN Women Iceland in cooperation with the UN Women headquarters and the other 12 National Committees of UN Women. The campaign seeks to collect signatures from people residing in countries where National Committees are operating, in support of the full implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action and the realization of gender equality.
The primary goal of the campaign is to demonstrate global public support by presenting the collected signatures to the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

3. What Personal Data Is Collected
We collect the following categories of personal data:
– Full name (required)
– Email address (required)
– Country of residence (required)
4. Purpose of Data Processing
The data is collected and processed for the following purposes:
– To record your support for the March Forward 2025 petition;
– To deliver the petition to the Human Rights Council in Geneva to showcase your support for the cause.
– If consent is provided: to share your information with your local UN Women National Committee for future engagement.
5. Legal Basis for Processing
The legal basis for the processing of your personal data is:
– Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR – Your explicit consent;
– You confirm your consent by actively submitting your information.
6. Data Sharing
Your personal data may be shared with the following UN Women National Committees:
UN Women Australia, UN Women Austria, UN Women Finland, UN Women France, UN Women Germany, UN Women Italy, UN Women Japan, UN Women Netherlands, UN Women New Zealand, UN Women Spain, UN Women Sweden, and UN Women United Kingdom.
For the National Committees located within the European Economic Area (EEA), your data will be shared in accordance with Art. 14 GDPR. Information and contact details for each National Committee can be found on each National Committees´ website.
7. International Data Transfers (Third Countries)
UN Women Iceland may transfer data to National Committees in third countries (i.e., countries outside the EEA). Transfers to countries with an adequacy decision by the European Commission (e.g., Japan, New Zealand, United Kingdom) are allowed under Art. 45 GDPR.
In cases where no adequacy decision exists (e.g., Australia), data will be transferred using safeguards outlined in Art. 46 GDPR, specifically the Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission. These are designed to ensure that your personal data is protected in accordance with European standards.

8. Data Retention
Your personal data will be stored only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined above. Generally, data will be retained:
– Until the petition is officially delivered (anticipated by end of 2025), and
– Up to 12 months afterwards for reporting, auditing, or follow-up purposes.

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

– Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”) (Art. 17)

10. Data Security and Storage
Your data will be stored securely on servers located within the EEA. All reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are in place to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, or destruction.
